There are also some Bald Eagle families and Red-Tailed Hawks which reside in the area year round. The Blomidon Naturalist Society participate in the annual North American Christmas Bird Count. As many as 84 species have been counted. North American Migration Counts done in May and September have counted as many as 113 species. The Bay of Fundy is a stopping place for a large number of migratory birds such as the Sand Pipers in the fall. There are sea kayaking tours on the Bay of Fundy which view the birds. A walk along the dykes will discover cranes and other sea birds fishing. In downtown Wolfville, the Robie Tufts Nature Centre preserved a chimney for use by Chimney Swifts. Every evening at dusk the Swifts return to the Chimney for the night and a great show is observed as they enter.
The Valley Gardeners Club put together "the Open Gardens of Kings County, Nova Scotia" consisting of 18 gardens open for public visitations. All are within 30 minute drive of us. One is The Prescott House Museum, a 15 minute drive. Charles Prescott cultivated Nova Scotia's apple industry from 1811 to 1859.
